October 14th vs. Colts (35-9)

Look at that. It feels good to be right. In this must-win over the Colts, the Jets finished what they started last week. It was a solid game and well-executed as well.

It started off a little slow, until a TD by Stephen Hill, finally back after injury, was caught in the back of the end zone. Then the game kept slowly working in our favor. There was a bit of a stalemate after halftime, but we eventually took back the momentum. We went on to rack up five touchdowns and intercept Andrew Luck twice.

Many factors contributed to this win. For one, we finally had our top two receivers back in: Stephen Hill and Dustin Keller. This helped a great deal; Stephen came up with a few other big receptions for good gains. But why did I use his first name on the second mention? Isn't that grammatically incorrect, you ask? Not if you have someone else with the same last name. Bring in Jason Hill (no relation), the newly acquired wide receiver brought in to fill in for Santonio Holmes. He too had a great game, including his own touchdown catch in the end zone.

Also, the defense continued its progress from last week. Cromartie played aggressive, holding Reggie Wayne back from anything close to significant yards. This was good; however, he needs to take it easy with the fouls. I'm not saying be less aggressive, I'm saying be more careful to avoid pulling Jerseys and simple things like that. But any defense that can allow no touchdowns and just three field goals is a good one.

Most importantly, we finally have a running game. For the first time in a while, I saw that ground-and-pound team that is supposed to be Rex Ryan's trademark. We've been working hard to get it going, but it looks like it finally payed off today. Just check out this rushing touchdown by Shonn Greene, one of his three today: http://www.newyorkjets.com/photos-and-videos/videos/Greene-10-yd-TD/68be5520-d3a0-478e-b3f4-f37b0732de03

And of course, the offense had no turnovers the whole game. Always a positive. We've been working hard lately, and today shows that we could find a way to win without Darrelle Revis and Santonio Holmes. Let's keep up the good work and play hard. We face the Patriots next week in a showdown for first place in our division, so let's make that game special.
