November 18 at Rams (27-13)

Lots of things can be refreshing. A cold glass of water after a hot day. Lying on the beach, listening to the gentle yet strong roar of the ocean waves. A cocktail after the end of a long week. Or, if you're a football fan, your team finally winning a game after more than a month of disappointment. And that was the case today, as the Jets took down the St. Louis Rams in a strong win.

It didn't start out that way though. Take a look at this play. This was at the end of the Rams' opening drive: a touchdown pass after they decided to go for it on 4th down on the goal line. It was a total blown call by the Jets defense, who let QB Sam Bradford take his pick of two wide-open receivers in the back of the end zone.

There were miscues on special teams again early on. Ironically after hitting a 51-yard field goal, Nick Folk's next opportunity, a 26-yard attempt, was blocked. Also, late in the second quarter, they allowed a punt to be returned for a touchdown, which would have given St. Louis the lead back. Luckily it was negated by a holding penalty.

After that the game largely stalemated at 13-7, with the Jets offense getting progressively better and the Rams' getting progressively worse, thanks to a strong defensive stand. We finally got another touchdown, Bilal Powell's first (and later, second) career score.

There were some of the same mistakes again early on in the game. However, they quickly were corrected, giving us an offense that scored multiple touchdowns and didn't turn the ball over. Sanchez and his receivers were finally in sync today as well, creating an effective passing game. Not to mention it was a clean game, with only three non-serious fouls committed.

So here we are at 4-6, looking at another six games this season, ones that are supposedly winnable. I saw progress today, and that gives me hope. To leave on a positive note, I offer you a great moment from the game. Till next week!
